Screw the vets, we only like rich people at PBA

I know I'm not the only one who thinks PBA's American Free Enterprise Day is stupid because it's just "celebrate rich people day". For one, a whole day recognizing, congratulating, and basically worshiping rich people is utterly unbiblical. Matthew 6:3 makes that pretty clear..."But when you give to the poor, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing." We don't need to give an award to someone because they gave a bunch of money to the school! they already have a freaking building named after them!

This leads me to my second irritation. Besides the Newman club chapel, which is normally once a month anyway, AFE is the only day you actually get chapel credit for going. This wouldn't be so bad if it WERE the only chapel, but, holy crap! Veteran's Day was this week! wow! we had a special veterans day chapel, but do we get chapel credit for it? no. why? who can say? again, I really don't care that they didn't offer credit, I'm just confused why we get credit for something like AFE and not a Vet's day.

Well, I'm through ranting now. I feel better.

Black Jesus? He was Jewish, people.

Ok, So I can understand a black version of Santa...even though he's based off of St. Nicholas...who just happened to be white.

But seriously... a black Jesus? He was Jewish, people. Sure, he could have, and probably did have darker skin, but he was not an "African American". When did it become OK to change the race of historical figures? I understand that black people might feel left out, but really, what's next? A black Abe Lincoln? An Asian George Washington? Hispanic Mayflower passengers?  We don't have a white version of Martin Luther King, Jr., that would be racist. (Although we do have a white version of Michael Jackson).

British Teacher Arrested For Insulting Islam

Recently in the news, stupid things are happening. Rob Crilly/Khartoum of Time magazine writes:

"It probably seemed like the most innocent of ideas to the newly arrived teacher from England, still settling into life in the Sudanese capital Khartoum. She asked her class of six- and seven-year-olds to dress up and name a teddy bear, and keep a diary of his outings. She hoped it would provide material for projects for the rest of the year. And it might have, except for the name the children chose for their bear: Muhammad."

She is facing charges for insulting Islam, a possible 40 Lashes plus up to 6 months in prison or a fine. Pretty ridiculous if you ask me. Unless I'm mistaken, Muhammad is a pretty common name, not exclusive to Muslims, I know at least one Christian who's name is Muhammad. I think this is getting a little out of hand. I mean, if someone names a teddy bear George, are they insulting America? And then, what about stuff like this:

Which is more offensive? A teddy bear that happens to have the same name as the major prophet of your religion, or a cheap action figure of your god with a machine gun?

African-Americans: They're not what you think

Look at this guy. Study him closely. Now, if I asked you to describe him, what is the first thing that you would say (besides he's freaking cool)? African-American? Wrong. He's Haitian. You just fell into the narrow-mindedness of being politically correct.

Now look at this person.

Guess what. She is an African-American, from South Africa Specifically. Surprised? Shame on you! See how being politically correct can actually mean being incorrect? I hope you learned your lesson.

Matt Damon: Sexiest Man Alive or Downs Syndrome?

The other day, while waiting in a checkout line, I saw a magazine with this picture on the cover with the headline, "Matt Damon: Sexiest Man Alive". The fist thought that popped into my head was that he looks more like someone with Downs Syndrome* than a sexy person. Really though, who has the authority to declare him so sexy?

Now, I don't claim to be an expert on male attractiveness, so I sought out the opinion of several females. I asked them if they thought that Damon was Sexy. Their responses were pretty much all the same - no.

Is this a joke? What kind of world is this where non-sexy people get all of the glorification of sexiness?

* Note: I do not have anything against people with Down's Syndrome. I know several and they are wonderful and amazing people.
